Beneath the Wisteria acknowledges a decade of discussing climate change

Inspiration from Professor David Karoly was the driver for the establishment of Shepparton's Beneath the Wisteria.

Just seven people gathered in the city's Maude St Mall a decade ago with the idea of discussing an individual and community response to what was then climate change, something many now prefer to call the "climate crisis" or a "climate emergency".

Those at that first meeting in 2011 were eager to see the conversation continue and so agreed the group should meet each month, something it has done almost without fail ever since.

However, Covid-19 intervened and ended our face-to-face gatherings forcing the introduction of Zoom meetings and that, subsequently, allowed for significant expansion of guests at our meetings.

One of those who joined Beneath the Wisteria via Zoom was the man behind the Melbourne-based "Music for a Warming World", Simon Kerr.
